The company originated from the amalgamation between Vredendal and Spruitdrift wine cellars in Vredendal during 2002. Since then the two cellars have been transformed into two world class production units with Vredendal specialising in white wine and Spruitdrift in red wine.

Namaqua Wines’ name change comes short after the cellar’s magnificent achievement at the 2007 SA Young Wine Show when this winery received 20 medals out of 21 entries – three gold medals, three silver and 14 bronze. Two championship trophies were also received.
